MISSION: The Journal of the American Academy of Audiology (JAAA) is the Academy's scholarly peer-reviewed publication, available online at no cost to Academy members as a benefit of membership. The journal disseminates original research articles, reviews, and clinical reports providing evidence-based and clinically-relevant research.
SCOPE: JAAA publishes articles in all areas of audiology, including audiological assessment, amplification, aural habilitation and rehabilitation, auditory electrophysiology, vestibular science, hearing science, and public health. We encourage basic science as well as translational research that has important implications for clinical audiology.
JAAA is accepting submissions for publication in 2025.

Current Highlights
Explore the latest breakthroughs and essential insights in audiology featured in the current issue of JAAA.
Abstract
LVAS is the most common ear malformation in children with hearing loss. VEMP and wide band acoustic immittance can be used to determine which individuals are good candidates for imaging and decrease the time it takes our patients to receive a diagnosis.
Journal Title
Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials and wideband acoustic immittance as screening tools for large vestibular aqueduct syndrome
Authors
Janky, Kristen L.; Patterson, Jessie N.; Kelly, Elizabeth A.; Merchant, Gabrielle R.
Abstract
The masseter VEMP is a new tool that provides novel information on the vestibule-masseter reflex pathway including the trigeminal nerve. It’s important we know the best way to obtain responses before widespread clinical use. Responses obtained from forehead reference electrodes are larger than the zygomatic montage and are recommended.
Journal Title
Optimal electrode configuration for masseter vestibular evoked myogenic potential: a comparison between zygomatic and forehead electrode montages
Authors
Nagarajan, Aishwarya; Sinha, Sujeet Kumar
