Call for Applications for SAA National Advisor/SAA Advisory Committee Chair
The Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) is completing its inaugural year. To provide the SAA with advice and guidance as they work to accomplish their goals and initiatives, the American Academy of Audiology created a 10-member SAA Advisory Committee. In its first year, the committee was structured so that one of the members was selected from Academy Fellows at the SAA president’s audiology program to serve as the SAA’s national advisor.
Because there has been so much overlap in the work of the national advisor and the committee chair, and to facilitate enhanced communication between the SAA board of directors and the advisory committee, the two positions are being combined into a dual-role, SAA National Advisor/SAA Advisory Committee Chair. The Academy is searching for an Academy Fellow member in academia, with an enthusiasm for working with students and a commitment to helping the SAA define and achieve its goals as the student arm of the Academy, to apply for a newly merged, dual role of SAA National Advisor/SAA Advisory Committee Chair beginning July 1, 2010.
- Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee (comprised of SAA Advisory Committee and SAA Board members) and the final selection will be determined by the Academy’s president-elect.
- The appointment runs from July 1, 2010, through June 30, 2011, and can be renewed by the Academy’s current president for up to two additional years (for three-years total).
- The appointee must be an Academy Fellow and must remain a member in good standing throughout his/her term as chair/national advisor.
- Applications must be completed and returned to Victoria Keetay, senior director of education, no later than Monday, March 29, 2010, by 5:00pm ET.
