Last week, the Academy attended the CompactConnect Onboarding Webinar, a session focused on implementing the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Interstate Compact (ASLP-IC). The webinar provided an overview of the onboarding process for states joining the compact, outlining key steps for the data system such as configuring licensure systems, establishing state-specific fees, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Participants received detailed guidance on data requirements, including the necessary practitioner information states must submit, as well as the technical aspects of integrating with the system. The session also covered the role of state administrators in handling licensee records, adverse actions, and criminal background checks, ensuring a smooth transition into the compact system.
The recent webinar, although primarily focused on onboarding state officials, provided some important information for audiologists interested in joining. Some states that have already passed legislation to join the compact may still lack the necessary background check systems, which means they may need to enact additional legislation to establish these procedures before they can fully participate in the compact privilege. Additionally, the ASLP-ICC has tentatively set August 2025 as the soft launch date for the compact to become operational. These details are crucial for audiologists to understand as they prepare for the implementation of the interstate compact.
