Changes to ICD-10 Codes Announced for October 1, 2017

No Significant Changes to Audiology Specific Codes

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the 2018 ICD-10 CM files. These files contain updates to the ICD-10 code set that are set to take effect on October 1, 2017. Upon preliminary review, there were no changes made to Chapter 8: Diseases of the ear and mastoid process nor any substantial changes to ICD-10 codes typically utilized by audiologists. There was a revision to the description of an encounter code (Z05) that describes newborn screening for at risk infants. That change is listed below. For more information, including updates, and additional information on ICD-10 coding visit the Academy's ICD-10 page. The Academy’s Coding and Reimbursement Committee (CRC) will continue to review any changes to ICD-10 coding and report those changes to members.
